DAY 4 MAHANGO GAME PARK – ZAMBEZI REGION, NAMIBIA
Enjoy a game drive along the floodplains of the Mahangu Game Park. Year round water ensures an abundance of game, however, during the dry winter months, the chances of seeing game is higher as the animals seek out the river and waterholes. Visit the Popa Falls, with its perennial rivers, magnificent indigenous woodlands, riverine forests, floodplains and reed - lined channels. The 'falls' are in fact a series of cascades created by a quartzite ledge that causes the river to split into numerous channels. [Breakfast, Dinner]
DAY 5 ZAMBEZI REGION, NAMIBIA
Savor the opportunity to explore the beauty of the Zambezi region (formerly known as the Caprivi Strip) during an early morning open vehicle game drive. Often described as Namibia's answer to Botswana's Okavango Delta, the rivers, wetlands and forests of the Zambezi region support a diverse range of animals that include several species such as hippo and buffalo. In the afternoon you will visit a Traditional Village where the villagers will demonstrate various fishing and hunting techniques, as well as their customs and traditions. [Breakfast, Dinner]
DAY 6 ZAMBEZI REGION, NAMIBIA - CHOBE, BOTSWANA
This morning you will re-enter Botswana. Natural riches and a low human population density have combined to make Botswana one of the most rewarding countries in Africa in which to experience a big game safari. DAY 7 CHOBE, BOTSWANA
Enjoy a thrilling morning open vehicle game drive in the Chobe National Park, the second largest in Botswana, known for its superb game viewing all year round, as it has one of the largest populations of game on the African continent. DAY 1 – SATURDAY WINDHOEK – KALAHARI DESERT
Depart Windhoek and drive to the Kalahari Desert, via the small town of Rehoboth, a community that still lives according to their paternal laws dating back to 1872. The Kalahari Desert is not a desert in the strictest sense of the word, as it receives too much rainfall. It’s only the vast expanses of sand, through which precipitation filters rapidly, leaving nothing on the surface, that have made the Kalahari into the “thirst land” that early European settlers described. Enjoy a scenic, sunset nature drive in an open safari vehicle before dinner. [Dinner]
DAY 2 – SUNDAY KALAHARI DESERT – FISH RIVER CANYON
After breakfast, drive through the Kalahari region and visit the Quiver Tree Forest near Keetmanshoop. The forest was declared a national monument of Namibia and comprises of about 250 specimens of Aloe dichotoma, which the San people used to make quivers. A short stop will be made in Keetmanshoop, with lunch en route that will be for your own account. Visit the Naute Dam, Namibia’s third largest dam. Stretch your legs with an easy walk to a nearby mountain and enjoy a complimentary drink as you watch the sunset. [Breakfast & Dinner]
DAY 3 – MONDAY FISH RIVER CANYON - AUS
This morning we travel to the spectacular Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa. It features a gigantic ravine, in total about 160km long, up to 27km wide and in some places 550m deep. Our journey continues to Aus with lunch en route (for own account). En route you might see the desert adapted Wild Horses of the Namib. These horses hold an irresistible fascination, as they managed to adapt to the harsh conditions of the desert. Enjoy spectacular scenery of the Aus Mountains on an unguided walk and a scenic sun downer drive in the afternoon (for own account). [Breakfast & Dinner]
DAY 4 – TUESDAY AUS - MALTAHÖHE
Today you’ll be spoilt with ever-changing vistas of the desert landscapes when driving along the most beautiful district road in Namibia, the D707 (road conditions permitting). Visit Duwiseb Castle, a grand medieval fortress, built in the hills of the semi-arid Southern Namib region. Learn more about the Castle’s fascinating history, before continuing to your lodge, arriving in the early afternoon. [Breakfast & Dinner]
DAY 5 – WEDNESDAY MALTAHÖHE – NAMIB NAUKLUFT PARK
Today will be an early start to explore the spectacular towering dunes of Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei, another pan where water once flowed, but all that remains today are the skeletons of trees that reach up out of the cracked earth. Enjoy a drive in 4x4 vehicles into the heart of the Namib Desert. Visit the rugged Sesriem Canyon where you can view millions of years of sedimentary layers in the ravine walls. Views from the top are breathtaking while walks through the canyon reveal distinct geographical layers which were laid down over centuries. Travel past the impressive Namib Naukluft Mountains to your lodge.

DAY 6 – THURSDAY NAMIB NAUKLUFT PARK - SWAKOPMUND
After breakfast, drive through Kuiseb Canyon and continue towards Walvis Bay, Namibia’s largest commercial port. Enjoy an opportunity for lunch in Walvis Bay (for own account). The Walvis Bay Lagoon is considered one of the richest and most important wetlands in southern Africa, with prolific birdlife and diverse species. Our journey continues to Swakopmund, a city that resembles a small German town, with seaside promenades, restaurants, cafes and museums. Enjoy a sun downer drive to the Moon Landscape, a barren, undulating rocky desert which was formed by the valleys of the Swakop River. Enjoy a complimentary sun downer, whilst absorbing the rugged beauty of this lunar landscape. [Breakfast & Dinner]
DAY 7 - FRIDAY SWAKOPMUND (unguided)
Explore the quaint town of Swakopmund. You may wish to book an optional day tour (for own account) in Swakopmund (guided tour through the Mondesa township, quad-biking, sand-boarding; a scenic flight over the Skeleton coast or a catamaran cruise in Walvis Bay). Many optional activities are on offer (for own account): visit the aquarium, various museums or the crystal gallery. [Breakfast]
DAY 8 - SATURDAY (unguided) SWAKOPMUND
Enjoy the splendours and many attractions of Swakopmund. There is a possibility of meeting fellow travellers at dinner that will be joining the tour in Swakopmund. [Breakfast & Dinner]
DAY 9 – SUNDAY SWAKOPMUND - DAMARALAND
Depart early morning and travel on the salt road towards Henties Bay, past salt pans and an array of bird life, to Damaraland, one of the most scenic areas in Namibia. Visit Twyfelfontein, a site of ancient rock engravings and the Organ Pipes, a distinctive series of dolerite pillars that have been exposed by erosion. Arrive at your lodge during the late afternoon. DAY 10 – MONDAY DAMARALAND
The morning is at leisure, to relax at the lodge until lunchtime. In the afternoon, join a sun downer drive in the Aba Huab River and possibly encounter the desert dwelling elephants (seasonal). These elephants are not a distinct species but are African bush elephants that have made their homes in the Namib and Sahara deserts. They were once more widespread in Africa, but are currently found only in Namibia and Mali.[Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner]
DAY 11 – TUESDAY DAMARALAND – ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, depart Damaraland and journey to the Etosha National Park. Visit a Damara village near Twyfelfontein and learn more about the culture and the tradition of this half-nomadic people. Continue via the little town of Outjo. Lunch stop (for own account) - possibly meet fellow guests joining the Etosha tour. From there continue to Etosha National Park. Arrive in the early afternoon and undertake your first game drive, in your closed touring vehicle, into the park. [Breakfast & Dinner]
DAY 12 – WEDNESDAY ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
The entire day will be spent in the Etosha National Park, exploring the waterholes along this enormous saltpan, in your closed touring vehicle. Enjoy a lunch stop at one of the rest camps (lunch for own account). There are close to 114 species of mammal in Etosha, including the black faced impala and the threatened black and white rhino. The Etosha Pan (a flat calcrete depression), contains water only after very good rains and sometimes only for a few days each year, but is enough to stimulate the growth of a blue green algae which lures thousands of flamingos. DAY 13 – THURSDAY ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy another full day exploring this world famous National Park, in your closed touring vehicle. Your guide will introduce you to the complex subject of managing such an enormous reserve, that’s considered to be one of the world’s great wildlife sanctuaries. Enjoy a lunch stop en route at one of the rest camps (lunch for own account). [Breakfast & Dinner]
DAY 14 – FRIDAY ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK - WINDHOEK
After breakfast, travel south towards Otjiwarongo. Continue towards Windhoek via Okahandja where we will visit a local handicraft market. Tour ends on arrival in Windhoek late afternoon. [Breakfast]

DAY 4 – SATURDAY KRUGER NATIONAL PARK – JOHANNESBURG – CAPE TOWN
Enjoy breakfast before starting the return journey to Johannesburg. Arrive in Johannesburg, at OR Tambo International Airport, at approximately 14h30, for your onward flight to Cape Town. On arrival in Cape Town, the oldest city in South Africa, spectacularly set at the foot of Table Mountain, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel, where the remainder of the day is yours to relax or explore the city (unescorted). DAY 5 – SUNDAY CAPE TOWN
Continue your journey of discovery, by joining a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula. Drive through Sea Point, the seaside village of Hout Bay and then to Cape Point where (by tradition) it is said that the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Return to Cape Town through the historic naval base of Simon’s Town and Muizenberg to visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, a centre for the preservation of the region’s unique flora.

Enjoy a full day at leisure. Perhaps join a sightseeing tour to Table Mountain (own account) or simply explore the city. There is also the Two Oceans Aquarium, Robben Island or alternatively relax on one of Cape Town’s many beaches.

DAY 7 – TUESDAY CAPE TOWN – PRINCE ALBERT
Travel through the picturesque Hex River Valley, surrounded by magnificent mountains. This area is considered to be the biggest producer of table grapes in South Africa. Enjoy a wine tasting along a route that boasts with the longest harvest season in the world. Continue to Matjiesfontein, where a part of the local hotel served as a convalescent hospital for British officers during the Anglo-Boer War. The entire village was declared a National Heritage Site in 1975 and is today a charming, beautifully restored throwback to the late Victorian era. The journey continues to Prince Albert, another delightful village, dating back to 1762. The town is known for its sun-ripened fresh and dried fruit, vineyards, olives and local cheese.

Continue to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world and home to the spectacular limestone caverns of the Cango Caves. Enjoy a tour of one of the world’s great natural wonders, sculpted by nature through the ages. In the afternoon, visit an Ostrich Farm for a guided tour.

DAY 9 – THURSDAY OUDTSHOORN - KNYSNA
After breakfast, travel over the Outeniqua Pass to George, the sixth oldest town in South Africa, with many historical landmarks such as the Slave Tree and King Edward VII Library building; said to be the best example of Edwardian architecture in the town. The tour travels via Wilderness, an attractive holiday resort to Knysna, known as the oyster box of South Africa, nestling on the banks of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route. Enjoy a lagoon cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, where you can take a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head to enjoy panoramic views of the town and lagoon, returning for lunch under the milkwood trees. DAY 1 MONDAY CAPE TOWN - VREDENDAL
Join us on a visit to the West Coast National Park which, during spring, is embroidered with a tapestry of multi-hued flowers. Visit the Postberg section where many antelope are to be seen in a setting that is as unique as it is idyllic. Just inland from the secluded harbour of Saldanha Bay one finds the azure waters of the Langebaan Lagoon, focal point of the West Coast National Park. Thousands of seabirds roost on sheltered islands, pristine golden beaches stretch endlessly into the early morning mist and brooding salt marshes are home to vast concentrations of migrant waders from the northern hemisphere. During the course of the afternoon the journey continues via Piketberg to Vredendal.

DAY 2 TUESDAY VREDENDAL – NIEUWOUDTVILLE - VREDENDAL
After breakfast you have a full day to explore and view wild flowers in their natural surroundings. Nieuwoudtville is the bulb capital of the world and it’s widely accepted that the highest speciation of bulbs are found in this area. The bulbs generally start flowering after the first rains during March/April. The incidence increases to peak during July through to October, depending on weather conditions.

DAY 3 WEDNESDAY VREDENDAL
After breakfast you’ll have another opportunity to further experience the unique beauty of the area, viewing wild flowers, endemic succulents and birdlife in the Vredendal area. Enjoy a wine tasting at one of the well-known wine cellars along the Olifantsriver Wine Route.

DAY 4 THURSDAY VREDENDAL- CAPE TOWN
This morning you depart Vredendal and travel to Clanwilliam and the Ramskop Wild Flower Garden. Each year during August and September, depending on the preceding winter's rainfall, the area is transformed into a floral showcase. The area features a large variety of wild flowers. Ramskop Nature Reserve at the Clanwilliam Dam Resort boasts 250 indigenous species of wild flowers. In the afternoon the tour continues through Citrusdal to Cape Town where it ends on arrival. After breakfast you have a full day to explore and view wild flowers in their natural surroundings. Nieuwoudtville is the bulb capital of the world and it’s widely accepted that the highest speciation of bulbs are found in this area. The bulbs generally start flowering after the first rains during March/April. The incidence increases to peak during July through to October, depending on weather conditions.

DAY 3 WEDNESDAY VREDENDAL

DAY 4 THURSDAY VREDENDAL- CAPE TOWN
This morning you depart Vredendal and travel to Clanwilliam and the Ramskop Wild Flower Garden. Each year during August and September, depending on the preceding winter's rainfall, the area is transformed into a floral showcase. The area features a large variety of wild flowers. Ramskop Nature Reserve at the Clanwilliam Dam Resort boasts 250 indigenous species of wild flowers. In the afternoon the tour continues through Citrusdal to Cape Town where it ends on arrival. Depart Johannesburg after breakfast and head for Pretoria, South Africa’s capital city, for a short orientation tour, before continuing to the Mpumalanga Province, known as “Paradise Country”. Dropping several hundred feet into the lush subtropical region of the Lowveld, we travel via the historic towns of Dullstroom and Lydenburg. After traversing the famous Long Tom Pass, we travel via Sabie and arrive late afternoon into Hazyview, the safari hub of the Kruger National Park. [Breakfast]

After an early morning breakfast, we’ll drive along the spectacular “Panorama Route”, offering views of amazing scenery including the 26 kilometre-long Blyde River Canyon (home to the Three Rondavels), Bourke’s Luck Potholes’ and historic God’s Window, a breathtaking view (weather permitting) of the edge of the escarpment taking in the Kruger National Park.
